Costumes and a Candy Binge!

For some, Halloween and fall decor shopping sounds like something you do when the fall actually arrives. This seemingly logical connection is not the case ,however. Being a first time homeowner this year has taught me quite a few things.
1. Don't think the utility bills are going to be predictable or even repeated in amount from month to month.
2. Spray painting a shelf on the driveway is a bad idea and no, paint does not come off concrete (no matter how pinterestingly long you search for a remedy)
3. Every house should be built with a fence because they are freaking expensive
4. There is a thing called a GFI switch which will reset the electrical outlets to a large portion of your house if they short our because the Christmas lights plug was emerged in wet snow for too long
And 4. If you don't buy seasonal decor for your house the moment the stores are carying it, you will most likely either get nothing or be left with the meager bare bones crap no one wants at the end.

I'm sure there are countless other things we have learned but these things one to mind. It's been a good year, but we've had our fair share of lessons taught and learned for sure!

Around Halloween each year we take the kids to the This Is The Place Heritage Park for Little Haunts. They have a lot of fun there. This year was a little low key compared to most, but we pulled it off :)

We also did our traditional Witch's Night Out at Gardner Village!! We had more fun this year than years past. It's nice to have memories and traditions together with the kids. I love getting all dressed up with Jess. We make a great Witchy team!

Also, this year, the kids were scheduled to be with Barb for the evening trick or treating festivities. We decided a few years back that whomever's year it is will be responsible for the purchasing of the costumes. Barb did great this year. Mitchell got to be the muscular batman and Jessica chose a mummy. I went and helped with the Halloween parties at the school. I think Mitchell was really happy to see me. Ms. Jesse was very kind and had such cute things to say about Mitchell :-) Jessica mummied it up with her friends in class. Afterward, we all went to Main Street where the kids had a tin of fun trick or treating in the shops. Barb started this tradition with them a couple years ago and they have looked forward to it every year. Owen met us there and the kids made a killing in candy :-)

Afterward, the children went with Barb to their parties for the evening and Owen went to school. I, went home and watched shows, handed out candy to the kids with Bella, and I ate a ton of candy myself...hahaha gosh that sounds so depressing. But I swear it was actually nice to have a quiet evening.
