April and May were breezes that blew by with no major happenings. June and July were chalked full of family trips, summer fun and work/school. Owen has class three days a week and works seven days a week right now. It's hard to balance and budget our time as a family but somehow we seem to make it work out.
Lava Hot Springs
In August, Jessica turned 9. We had the privilege of having her on her actual birthday this year. That rarely, if ever, happens so we decided to try and make it extra fun for her. We did a swimming party at the rec center and she invited her cousins and her friend Brock. We learned what a daredevil Mitchell is becoming in the water. I think I've decided to try and limit a pool party down to a place with one pool from now on though.
With Mitch wanting one pool, Jessica wanting to swim in another and the rest of the family in the outdoor pool, I think my eyeballs and brain cells got twisted up into haggard nots!! But most importantly, Jessica had a nice birthday. Owen and I decided to go ahead and get her a kindle for her birthday this year.
This was actually a hard decision for me. Don't get me wrong, I want to make her happy, but an expensive device like that seems to be such an adult gift. Also probably because at that time none of us in the family had a tablet of any kind. Still, I figured I better get with the times and realize this is the way of the future and children can use these for not just games but learning and exploring, etc. Jessica was, needless to say, exploding with excitement at her new gift. :-) she has promised to do well with it and follow the rules we gave her in treating it well and keeping it in perfect condition.
